Nairobi Bass Calendar

One place to find the events, broadcasts and gatherings moving Nairobi’s bass underground.

All submissions are reviewed before being added to the calendar.

What do we mean by “bass music”?

For the purposes of this calendar, bass music is an umbrella term covering genres built around sound-system culture and low-frequency electronic music. This includes drum & bass, jungle, dubstep, UK garage, grime, bassline, 140, breaks, UK bass, experimental bass and related styles.

We also include selected techno, house and other electronic events where they have a strong connection to bass culture or the wider BBH/JCK community.

Our aim isn’t to categorise every genre perfectly; it’s to help people discover the music and communities they are most likely to enjoy.

The Nairobi Bass Calendar is a community-curated guide to drum & bass, jungle, dubstep, bass music and related electronic sounds across Nairobi, with selected events from elsewhere in Kenya.

The calendar was initiated by Big Bad & Heavy and Jungle Culture Kenya to make it easier for listeners, artists, promoters and newcomers to see what is happening across the scene.

This calendar doesn’t represent one promoter, venue or collective. It’s a shared community resource maintained through collaboration with the people building Nairobi’s bass scene.
